"After 28 years as a technologist,
I finally followed my passion."
My Story
I’ve always wanted to pursue a career in mammography, but it wasn’t until recently—after 28 years in radiology—that I took the leap. The turning point for me was personal: both my mother and grandmother were diagnosed with breast cancer. Their journeys made me realize just how much I wanted to contribute to this field and make a meaningful impact.

The GROW Mammography Scholarship made that dream possible by removing the financial barrier that stood in my way. Without it, I wouldn’t have been able to take this important step forward in my career.

One of the most memorable parts of my journey so far was completing my 25 supervised exams. I had the opportunity to work alongside two incredibly experienced technologists who shared their knowledge and expertise with me. Their mentorship not only sharpened my technical skills but also boosted my confidence.

I believe that my role in mammography will make a real difference in patient care. With nearly three decades of experience in radiology and a deep personal connection to the cause, I bring both skill and empathy to every patient I see. I understand the fear and uncertainty that can come with a breast cancer screening, and I aim to provide comfort along with quality care.

To anyone considering this path, my advice is simple: shadow a mammography department first to see if it’s the right fit for you. If you discover it’s your passion—go for it! It took me 28 years to make this move, and I’m so glad I did.
