"I’ve always loved this field, but I knew early on that I wanted to specialize in mammography. Life took me through CT first, but the calling to mammography never faded."
My Story
My name is Loryn, and I’m a radiologic and CT technologist from Beaumont, Texas. For years, I’ve worked in diagnostic imaging—most recently at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas, where I specialize in mobile imaging and CT.

What truly pushed me to apply for the GROW Mammography Scholarship was seeing a gap in my community—there simply aren’t enough mammographers in our area. Beyond the professional need, there’s a personal reason: I lost a close friend to breast cancer. That loss stuck with me and gave my interest in mammography a deeper purpose.

Receiving the GROW Scholarship gave me the opportunity to take the next step in my career. The training in Houston was phenomenal—engaging, hands-on, and empowering. I left that program confident in my skills and ready to begin clinicals. The instructors not only taught technique, but also shared real-world insight that I’ll carry with me as I care for patients.

I’m grateful for this opportunity. This scholarship helped turn a long-standing dream into reality, and I’m excited to bring that passion into the field of mammography—one patient at a time.
