"I want to be the technologist patients remember—someone who stood by them when they needed it most."

My Story

My motivation to pursue a career in mammography began when a close friend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 27 years old. Her experience opened my eyes and made me realize that I wanted to be part of the team that supports patients through such a difficult journey.

Receiving the GROW Mammography Scholarship was an incredible blessing. I’m so thankful to have been chosen—it helped me accomplish my goal of becoming a registered mammographer and begin a career where I truly feel I’m making a difference.

One of the most memorable moments in my career so far has been seeing the joy and relief on patients’ faces when they learn they do not have breast cancer. Being part of that moment—sharing in their happiness—is something I’ll never forget.

Looking ahead, I hope to be the kind of technologist that patients remember not only for my clinical skills, but for the compassion I bring. When patients receive difficult news, I want them to feel like they’re not going through it alone. My goal is to be a comforting presence and a shoulder to lean on.

To anyone considering mammography as a career, my advice is simple: always be kind and compassionate. You may be the reason a patient chooses to come back for their yearly mammogram—and that consistency can be lifesaving. Be the technologist who makes a difference, one patient at a time.
