Receiving a mammography scholarship would be life-changing for me, both personally and professionally. It would remove a significant financial barrier and allow me to return to doing mammography again. By easing the burden of tuition and related expenses, this scholarship would give me the opportunity to dedicate my time and energy to mastering the skills needed to provide accurate, compassionate, and high-quality patient care.

As my career has advanced, I was unable to continue in the mammography field. I was a Director of Radiology for 19 years with multiple responsibilities at a facility that did not provide mammography. In the last few years, I have been able to slow down and take a job at a facility that provides mammography. They have asked me to return to this field, and I am very excited to do so. However, there have been many changes in the field over the last 20 years, and I need to get educated on those changes to provide the best patient care possible. Mammography plays a critical role in early detection and prevention of breast cancer, and I am deeply motivated to return to mammography and be a part of that mission once again. This scholarship would help me return to a field where I can make a meaningful difference every day by supporting patients during vulnerable moments and helping them feel informed, respected, and cared for. With proper education and clinical training, I will be better prepared to deliver reliable imaging services that contribute to early diagnosis and improved health outcomes.​

 

Beyond its impact on my own career, this scholarship would also benefit my community. Many communities face limited access to skilled healthcare professionals, especially in diagnostic imaging. By requalifying in mammography, I can help increase access to essential mammography services and support early detection efforts that save lives. I also hope to serve as an advocate for breast health education, encouraging individuals to prioritize screenings and preventative care.

This scholarship is more than financial assistance—it is an investment in my future and in the health of the community I plan to serve. With this support, I can pursue my goals with confidence and make a lasting, positive impact through compassionate and skilled mammography care.
